Delayed
In the end, it probably didn't matter that I caught
the flu.
I'm feeling much better, by the way (to anyone who
was concerned, thanks for that!). As it happened, the movers left quite a bit
of stuff in the garage. When I showed up for the walk-through today, the
property manager had prospective tenants with her. Good thing we cleaned it up
for them. These prospective tenants, apparently, want to move in on Monday!
The movers can't pick our stuff up until the 16th. Bit of a problem, there.
After putting the roof rack on the van (a two hour job), I spent about an hour
trying to find a local storage company that would not only hold our stuff for a
week ('til Vega Line make it back here) but pick it up, too. In the end, I had
to settle for a place that has a driver and truck they use. The driver doesn't
actually move stuff but "if you grease his palm," the guy at the storage company
said, "I'm sure he'll help you out". That's happening on Saturday, the day
after we were supposed to leave. I guess everything's working out as it's meant
to be.
We're now planning on leaving
Sunday morning. There shouldn't be much traffic and by the end of the day, we
should be well north of Vegas. I'm expecting we really won't hit much traffic
after that. Again, probably another good move - leaving on Friday morning
could've been ugly, traffic-wise.
I
decided to move our little "going away" gathering to Friday, tomorrow night, but
when I called everyone, I only got two people on the phone, neither of whom
could make it. I left about 20 messages, so I have no idea if anyone's
coming.
On a completely different note, a
gig came in today... some sort of kids' video. It looks like I'll be setting my
studio up as soon as I get to Edmonton... and Kurt, if you're reading this,
don't worry - it'll only be a couple of days tops. (Kurt is the director of the
"Gun Club" documentary I'm starting the minute I'm settled up
there.)
... so tomorrow will be spent
relaxing and seeing friends (perhaps). I think after that, I'll probably feel
completely back to normal and ready for the 2,000 mile
drive.
What a boring blog entry. Sorry.
I'm tired.
